Archive for June, 2010
Beginning in August, Lijit will provide auto payment processing for all publishers earning advertising revenue. This change should streamline the payment process because publishers no longer need to request payment every month. To take advantage of auto payment, please set your payment details between July 19 and July 31 using the following instructions:
- Login to your account and select the “Account” section
- Select the “Earnings” tab, and click the “Edit Payment and Registration Info” button
- Fill in your Paypal payment details and tax information and select “Save Changes”
Additional auto payment transition details:
- Request payment deadline for June revenue is July 19th. If you don’t request payment by the July deadline, your next payment will be processed as part of August’s auto payment.
- To be paid for July revenue, all publishers must set auto payment details by July 31.
- We have amended our publisher agreement to include auto payment updates.

Note: the following email was distributed to all Lijit publishers on June 23. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at: feedback@lijit.com.
We would like to inform you of an upcoming service upgrade that we have scheduled for Friday, June 25th starting at 11:00 p.m. MST. Here are the key points we want you to know in advance of Friday’s service upgrade:
No action is required on your part.
- Your Lijit search box will be temporarily unavailable to your readers while we conduct this service.
- Your ad passback tags will work as configured.
- The overall performance (i.e., page load times, etc.) of your site will not be effected during this service.
Lijit service windows are rare and this is the first time in three years that we have had to make back-end infrastructure improvements to better support our growing publisher base. We have chosen this day and time because it reflects low impact and low traffic times for our publishers.
Advertising Services: We will not have the ability to serve any Lijit ads during the upgrade. As stated above, passback tags will still be available for publishers using them as part of their Lijit configuration. Please see our advertiser FAQ for additional information on passback tags: http://www.lijit.com/help/pub-ad-faq#_Toc_passback.
For more information on our advertising services, please see http://www.lijit.com/publishers/commercial-publishers.
We appreciate your understanding and apologize in advance for any inconvenience this service interruption may cause.

This is our first software release of the summer and we definitely consider it a “blockbuster”. We work hard every month to bring you valuable tools to make you a better publisher and to help you monetize your content. We think this software release does both!
More Ad Stats-
We greatly expanded the range of ad stats available to you in your stats dashboard. Prior to this release we limited the ad stats data you could report on to the previous month, and current month. You can now run reports for any date range you wish, as well as have quick access to your current day stats, yesterday, week to date, and month to date. This should give you even more visibility into how Lijit is helping you monetize your site, and allow you to see the “big picture” when it comes to ad performance on your site.

Doniree (also known as Doni) and I first met through our blogs and Twitter (geek at first sight), which then led her to Lijit working as a contractor for two months, which led to her current full-time gig as one of our Publisher Services Manager. She hails from the South, but grew up in Minnesota. With a little Southern charm, her strong grasp of the online world (and love for champagne), we’re happy to have Doni on the team.
What is your Lijit contribution?
I’m a Publisher Services Manager, which means I maintain relationships with our current publishers as well as identify new publishers that would benefit from the Lijit search. In short, I surf the internet for cool new blogs and publications to work with all day – not bad from a digital native who loves being in this space, right?
What is your least favorite word and why?
I’m too much of a word nerd to dislike too many words, unless you start getting offensive, but I can tell you that my favorite words are: copacetic, blissful, brilliant and delicious. (Yes, I’m as sunshine-y as I sound).
What is your favorite sound and why?
The pop of a champagne bottle opening because to me, it means celebrations and bubbles. I’m also a firm believer that champagne isn’t only for “big” celebrations, but that so many moments in life are celebrations and deserve champagne. Or maybe that’s just my excuse for champagne anytime.
What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt and why?
I want to be a celebrity guest judge on Iron Chef America. Because I love food and dining and am always fascinated by the cool ways the chefs use the secret ingredients on the show.
Something you’re guilty of…
Not allowing myself to stop and unwind. I tagged along on a girlfriends’ trip to Breckenridge while my friends snowboarded, and I managed to try to fill up my “relaxation” schedule until I got a migraine that forced me to chill the f#$% out. I love doing things, being physically active and have a pretty social lifestyle, so sometimes it’s tough for me to reach a point where I don’t feel guilty doing nothing.
You can find Doni on the interwebs at her personal blog (http://doniree.com/), her foodie blog (http://nomadicfoodie.com/) and she tweets here.

Note: The following is a post from Todd Vernon, Lijit’s fearless leader and CEO.
Since the beginning of the year Lijit has been aggressively talking with Ad Agency’s and Brands about leveraging our publisher base to reach targeted audiences in the mid and long tail of publishers. Our position has always been that audiences in the mid and long tail are much more engaged than the glossy publications at the head of the publisher chain. Delivering search technology and data to our publisher base allows us to see what consumers are interested in which is valuable to our agency partners.

Do you and your friends have a special book where you place all the brilliant (or ridiculous) quotes everyone has come up with over the years? What about a document or book you keep on file of your favorite quotations from prolific or famous people?
Qwotebook, a web quotation sharing project does just that – it lets users compile quotes (such as your favorite quote from a friend or famous person) and also discover and share quotes from others. The brains behind Qwotebook, Drew Olanoff has helped Qwotetbook gain traction across the web with a larger user base and through reviews by some of the top technology publications.
Qwotebook is all about “Making Quotes More Social.”
With that being said, we’re excited to announce the Lijit is the custom search provider for Qwotebook, helping readers and users discover the quotable qwote goodness.
Drew and the Qwotebook team blogged about the recent partnership this past weekend titled, “The Search for Truth.” Great title, right?
I’ve included an excerpt of his vision for search and equal excitement in working with Lijit:
One of the most important things when it comes to Qwotes (and Quotes of course), is search.
It’s something the team was very interested in 3 years ago when I brought Qwotebook to them.
“We have to do it right.”
I agreed. So we held out.
In Audrey’s awesome ReadWriteWeb piece, she mentioned search as a desired feature for her Qwotebook.

Today, we’re happy to announce that we’ve added search to Qwotebook with our new partner Lijit.
Here’s a quote from them….er wait, here’s a link to their Qwote about our partnership.
We love supporting other startups and the team at Qwotebook is no exception to the rule. Head on over to www.Qwotebook.com and sign up. Just like Twitter is your “brain dump” (Drew’s own words) Qwotebook is where you can dump any and all of your favorite quotations, (even the ones you find on Twitter) and share!

After living in a lot of different places from Scotland to Paris to Taiwan, Thelo is now at home as the Director of Business Development for Lijit, and he’s based out of San Francisco. Perry, our VP of Market Development, commonly refers to Thelo as Jack Johnson (read: uncanny looks and love for surfing). We couldn’t be happier to have Thelo on board, creating analogous business relationships for Lijit and not to mention he has great taste in hats.
What is your Lijit contribution?
Exploring the vast landscape of opportunities that exist for our super cool company.
What is your least favorite word and why?
Well it changes frequently, but lately it’s ‘resonate’….overused.
What is your favorite sound and why?
Sound of the ocean…soothing, exciting, invigorating and scary depending on its mood.
What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt and why?
Deep Sea Diver or Astronaut because of the possibilities to have other worldly experiences.
Something you’re guilty of…
Eating dessert before dinner…I sometimes struggle with patience.
For more of Thelo check out his personal blog, Bluebird Surf or find him on Twitter for (infrequent) updates on surf conditions in NorCal and occasionally beyond.
