Lijit recently hit 400m average daily ad impressions across our network so to celebrate this major company milestone we took the company go kart racing. It was the perfect activity for the Lijit team – a group of highly competitive, active employees who are in it to win it. While many of us were hoping for “bumper car” style which would allow us to throw some punches at each other, we played by the rules and focused entirely on speed.
Our CEO Todd Vernon is quite the race car driver so in the true spirit of intimidation he showed up with his own helmet (note the Lijit sticker on his helmet in the photo below!). We were placed into three different heats and each heat had two chances to make their best time. The 10 fastest racers made it to the finals… and the winner was? Our very own CEO! Check out the picture of Todd below with his winner’s flag.
Some of us are hobbling around today with bruises, soar limbs, and kinked necks but all in all it was a blast and we hope to be celebrating new milestones with another day of go kart racing in the months to come!

Doniree (also known as Doni) and I first met through our blogs and Twitter (geek at first sight), which then led her to Lijit working as a contractor for two months, which led to her current full-time gig as one of our Publisher Services Manager. She hails from the South, but grew up in Minnesota. With a little Southern charm, her strong grasp of the online world (and love for champagne), we’re happy to have Doni on the team.
What is your Lijit contribution?
I’m a Publisher Services Manager, which means I maintain relationships with our current publishers as well as identify new publishers that would benefit from the Lijit search. In short, I surf the internet for cool new blogs and publications to work with all day – not bad from a digital native who loves being in this space, right?
What is your least favorite word and why?
I’m too much of a word nerd to dislike too many words, unless you start getting offensive, but I can tell you that my favorite words are: copacetic, blissful, brilliant and delicious. (Yes, I’m as sunshine-y as I sound).
What is your favorite sound and why?
The pop of a champagne bottle opening because to me, it means celebrations and bubbles. I’m also a firm believer that champagne isn’t only for “big” celebrations, but that so many moments in life are celebrations and deserve champagne. Or maybe that’s just my excuse for champagne anytime.
What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt and why?
I want to be a celebrity guest judge on Iron Chef America. Because I love food and dining and am always fascinated by the cool ways the chefs use the secret ingredients on the show.
Something you’re guilty of…
Not allowing myself to stop and unwind. I tagged along on a girlfriends’ trip to Breckenridge while my friends snowboarded, and I managed to try to fill up my “relaxation” schedule until I got a migraine that forced me to chill the f#$% out. I love doing things, being physically active and have a pretty social lifestyle, so sometimes it’s tough for me to reach a point where I don’t feel guilty doing nothing.
You can find Doni on the interwebs at her personal blog (http://doniree.com/), her foodie blog (http://nomadicfoodie.com/) and she tweets here.

When Tom arrived at Lijit, we called him “The Bobs” from Office Space because he stepped in to help build and create more process, organization and flow on the operations end. Since then, we stopped calling him “The Bobs” and with great candor, has stepped up to the plate as our VP of Operations. Can you say patience?
What is your Lijit contribution?
I have the pleasure of overseeing the Lijit Operations team – a fantastic group of people who provide incredible support and service to our Publishers and Ad Sales team in the field.
What is your least favorite word and why?
Cornhusker. Do you really need to ask why?
What is your favorite sound and why?
Kid’s laughing – that’s a consistent “favorite sound” chart topper.
What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt and why?
Director of Finance. Why? Because, Mark Chessler makes it look like something out of a Bond movie.
Something you’re guilty of…
Making fun of Mark Chessler, our Director of Finance.

Shelly came to us at just the right time. Ben needed help with the mound of support tickets that were burying him and Lijit needed more women on the team. Basically, a win-win for everyone involved. But especially us…since Shelly brings a positive attitude, mad baking skills and the knowledge to solve just about any technical problem put in front of her.

Elaine was the first “real” salesperson that we hired here at Lijit and she’s been rocking the position ever since. From sharing her fashion sensibilities and her love of Asians to bringing in million dollar deals, Elaine has done a great job of fitting in with the Lijit culture. She’s cool enough to pull off futuristic jackets AND backwoods camping–all while looking cute and cracking jokes. Plus, she used to teach yoga which means she can bust moves like this in the office…

Greg, the blogger behind Mud and Cowbells and a HUGE Cyclocross racer, was a Lijit user before he came to work for us. I can remember him signing up a few years back and sending him the usual customized thank-you note that was par for the course back in the day. And instead of getting a few sentences back from him, I got a five paragraph email with tons of feedback, product requests and ideas for the future. Yep. Even back then, it was obvious this guy needed to work for us. Especially with a face like this…
Our dreams have come true because Greg is now Lijit’s VP of Product Management and regularly rocks our world (or at least our office) with his passion, enthusiasm and spot-on impressions. When he’s not racing bikes, talking bikes or watching bike races, he leads the Product team with his vision for what Lijit should be. Read on for his answers to the usual questions…

Although his title above is self-appointed, there are many signs that point to it being true. For instance the header on John’s blog states that the stunts he performs on a closed course should not be attempted by the home viewer. I think this has something to do with MySQL, but I could be wrong. In addition, he also claims to be the first person on earth to connect a Tcl/Tk application running on a Mac to a PostgreSQL database running on an mklinux server.
Yep. He really is that awesome.

But just in case, you need further proof, check out what John has to say when asked some hard-hitting questions.

How to top last year’s holiday party?
Mix in even more employees, add bigger pint glasses and sprinkle some humor at the management’s expense. Judging from the looks of everyone in the office today…you could safely say the party was a success.
And many thanks to Greg Keller for the amazing pictures to prove it.
Following are a few highlights from last night’s Annual Lijit Holiday Party…
From all of the turkeys here at the Lijit office…
We hope you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday!
(Thanks for being such a good sport Daniel…)
