Adding RSS, OPML and ATOM informers

Useful guidance and information comes not only from people, it can also come from non-people sources you value and trust, such as a news site or friend’s blog. Any source that can provide its information via an RSS, OPML or ATOM feed may become one of your trusted informers within Lijit. To include an RSS, OPML or ATOM feed as an informer in your trusted network:

  1. When logged in, click the link found in the Lijit website header to Add RSS Feed.
  2. If the RSS, OPML or ATOM informer you’re adding is from your blog, your del.icio.us bookmarks, your Flickr photos, etc., you can equate it with your identity by clicking the This is me checkbox.
  3. Enter the URL for the informer and give it a name.
  4. Provide a description for the informer – tell us about the feed and the value it provides. Note that this description will display for others to see. You may add or change it later, if you like.
  5. Type some subjects in which you trust this informer. If it’s a feed about technology news, you might enter (in a comma-separated list, please), “tech, technology, news, information”. These subjects help our informers search for (and find) this particular informer later. You can add or change these subjects later too.
  6. When you’re done, click the button at the bottom of the form to add the RSS informer to your network.
The RSS informer you've just trusted will now show up in the trusts block on the right-hand side of your profile page. If you clicked the This is me checkbox, the informer will also display within the other identities block at the bottom of the right-hand side of your profile page.
