What is the difference between my username and screen name?

Your username is what Lijit uses as your official identifier for all of your account settings, and it is what you use to log in to Lijit. Usernames are not case sensitive. There is no way to change your username once it has been setup during the sign up process. Legal characters include A-Z, 0-9, dashes (-), spaces, and underscores ( _ ).

In contrast, your screen name is like a friendly nickname. Your screen name appears on your profile, and at the top your search results window. You can change your screen name as often as you'd like, and it can contain any type of character.

Where can I change the color and style of my Wijit?

Check out our helpful screen cast for configuring your Wijit.

There are a bunch of different Wijit color and styling options available in the 'Search Wijit' section of the main navigation on Lijit.com. The three major Wijit Styles are 'Big Rounded', 'Slim Rectangular', and 'Style My Own'. There is a handy Wijit Preview window right next to the style and color options, so you can preview just what your Wijit is going to look like on the site. Note that the color palette you apply to the Wijit will be carried over to your search result display if you select the "On my blog" result display style.

The 'Big Rounded' and 'Slim Rectangular' style options are similar, but the 'Slim Rectangular' style option allows for a user defined custom color scheme using the 'Custom' color palette option. If you would like to further change the style of the Wijit and are familiar with CSS, you can choose the 'Style My Own' option. This option is only recommended for advanced users, and is not available when using the all-in-one Wijit.

You can also change the width of your Wijit with the handy Search Wijit Width slider. Keep in mind that if you are using the all-in-one Wijit, the Search Wijit will automatically default to a width of 180 if you have selected a smaller width value than 180.

What is the all-in-one Wijit option?

The all-in-one Wijit adds a bunch of new functionality to your standard Lijit Search Wijit. With the all-in-one Wijit your readers will have access to a Visitors Map that shows where in the world your visitors are coming, as well as a list of Recent Readers and their locations. Due to the nature of the all-in-one Wijit, the 'Style My Own' Wijit Style that allows CSS styling of your Search Wijit is unavailable. Also, if you are using the all-in-one Wijit, the Search Wijit will automatically default to a width of 180 if you have selected a smaller width value than 180.

You can add the URL of your Facebook public search listing to your Lijit content section by following these steps:

  1. Login to your Facebook account.
  2. Click on 'Profile' from Facebook's main navigation at the top of the page.
  3. Logout of Facebook.
  4. Hit the back button on your browser.
  5. You should now be looking at your Facebook public search listing. Copy the URL found in the address bar here.
  6. Go to Lijit.com and login to your Lijit account if you are not already logged in.
  7. Click on 'Content' from Lijit's main navigation at the top of the page.
  8. Scroll down to the section that says 'URL / RSS / OPML Feeds' and click on the option to add a feed.
  9. Paste the URL to your Facebook public search listing here, and then hit the 'Check' button.

My Flickr ID shows something other than the username I entered. What's up?

The weird combination of numbers and letters you see is your "real" Flickr username (the one they use for you in the background). When Lijit fetches the info we need from Flickr after you enter your username, we change the display to instead show your real Flickr username. Sorry for the change-up.
