  • Google Gadget

We have launched a Google gadget that allows for a quick and easy install of our search widget on Blogger blogs.

  • Embedded Search Results Ad Changes

We have created new functionality that automatically streamlines the ad zones displayed in embedded search results, enabling publishers to use the embedded results method even if they don't have a wide content area to place them.

  • Welcome Widget

This feature is an enhancement to our existing "Re-Search" feature that welcomes readers to a publisher's site when visiting from a search engine or referred from another site.

  • Quick Install Options for Ad Widgets:

Publishers now have "quick install" options for their ad widgets which means that Typepad and Blogger users can now use one-click install methods to get Lijit ad zones on their sites.

  • Non-US Publishers W9 Requirements:

We no longer require our non-US based publishers to provide us with U.S. specific tax information, and we've streamlined the payment process to make life a little bit easier for these customers.

  • Search Enhancements for Lijit Thumbnails:

We updated our search engine logic to favor search results that contain thumbnail information which should increase the number of results that have thumbnails and improve the overall quality of search results for our users.

August 11, 2009

  • New Publisher Categories:

Publishers can now self-categorize themselves with three new options when signing up for Revenue Sharing, and Advertisers can then target these categories: Home and Garden, Real Estate and Science.

  • Searches work during system maintenance:

This feature allows us to continue serving search results to readers while we are performing system maintenance.

  • Stats enhancements:

We updated the way we process wijit views and searches which will allow that data to show up in publishers stats at a faster rate.

  • Feed Crawler Updates:

We changed the platform we use for crawling our publishers RSS feeds which means faster and fresher results for all of our publishers.

  • Web Crawler Enhancements:

We implemented logic that allows us to better follow redirects while crawling a website, providing more thorough results on sites where we previously had trouble crawling their content.

  • Sitemap crawling:

This allows us to utilize the sitemap.xml file to help us get content that we normally would have missed using our existing crawling logic.
