Who We Are

Todd Vernon, CEO Todd is not only our fearless leader, but was also a founder and former CTO of Raindance Communications, Inc. He brings to the team his unusual dietary habits, startling ability to consume fantastic quantities of caffeine, love of bleeding-edge consumer gadgets, and over 15 years of management experience in startup, private, and public companies. Most importantly, Todd is the caretaker of our time and money and makes sure we spend them on things that make Lijit successful.

Walter Knapp, COO Walter has managed field organizations for Novell, investments for Cambridge Technology Capital, and raised venture capital for DCN. Now he applies his extensive talents in all aspects of building successful businesses at Lijit. We're lucky to have him, even if he is unnaturally good at cycling and skiing and uses strange associated phraseology we don't really understand, e.g. "I don't want us to get out too far out over our ski tips".

Perry Quinn, Vice President of Market Development Perry runs our Market Development (Client Services and Marketing) group here at Lijit. His professional background is as diverse as his tastes for things with wheels (bikes, skateboards, cars, etc.). He ran high tech manufacturing projects for KAO Infosystems, managed large accounts at TDA Advertising, led M&A deals, sold enterprise software, and directed product groups at Sun Microsystems. Perry's 15 minutes of fame can be traced back to making a mountain bike movie in Nepal and joining Dan Cortese on MTV Sports in the 90’s...yep, he has video to prove it.

Emmanuel Puentes, Vice President of Engineering Manny has been in the Boulder area working with software companies for about 11 years. He helps crush anyone that stands in the way of Lijit’s success. Although he’s made out of titanium and has moves like a ninja, he’s always ready to supply a helping hand.

Greg Keller, Vice President of Product Management Greg likes Legos, bikes and teeter-totters. 3-seat teeter totters. These attributes help define his personal ball of wax as the leader of our product strategy here at Lijit. Legos as a kid gave him some spatial chops to understand how things fit together…like how software fits together. Bikes led him to many of the greatest events in his life, including a decade stint in San Francisco helping to build a company, Embarcadero Technologies, where he led product strategy as VP of Product Management and Chief Evangelist through to the company’s $200mm sale in 2008 and now with Lijit (and it’s bike geek culture). The 3-way teeter totter is the image of how he tries to keep it all in balance. Family (seat 1), Work (seat 2) and Bike racing (Seat 3). Balance Grasshoper.

Dan Jones, Chief Architect Dan's got a long rap sheet in software engineering, having held various and sundry technical roles across a variety of industries, including teleconferencing and biotech. Dan will research every possible combination of solutions to a problem (literally…seriously) until he finds the best one, be that for buying a new HDTV or optimizing a particularly vexing database query. Since no one else on the team is even remotely patient enough to do that, we're particularly glad to have Dan on our side.

Mike Merideth, Director of IT Mike’s been a computer geek for as long as he’s known what a computer was, even though his education and personal interests tend towards the fine arts. He’s been building and maintaining IT infrastructures for the past 12 years and luckily, now takes care of all of those boxes and wires here at Lijit. And thank goodness for that, really, because making sure all of that stuff works...and works well, all the time...seems to be really darn important.

Mark Chessler, Director of Finance Mark's finance career spans approximately 13.26 years working for small to medium sized businesses. Despite being knee-deep in numbers every day for over a decade, he is not one-dimensional. His other interests include: stock market analysis, anything related to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), modern macro economic theory, reading the Wall Street Journal and watching CNBC.

Derek Greentree, Sr. Software Engineer / Team Lead Derek doesn’t make what you see when you use Lijit, he makes what you see when you use Lijit work. He's a computer scientist by schooling, a master of web development by trade, and develops the back-end code for Lijit. When he's not reading Japanese or coding in JavaScript, he's probably giving more money to Apple, his favorite purveyor of consumer electronics.
Derek's Lijit profile
Bill Marcum, Software Architect / Team Lead Bill navigates the software waters of Lijit's back-end search platform. He's been managing, designing, and coding software systems since before there was an internet. Before that, he wanted to be a paleontologist. In addition to hunting for fossils, Bill is one of the fastest runners in the office and really likes ice in his afternoon Cokes.

Ningsheng Liu, Database Architect / Team Lead Ningsheng enjoys doing what he is doing at Lijit: modeling and manipulating data for integrity, efficiency, usability and leveraging database technologies for availability, scalability, supportability and performance. His goal is to make databases work and grow along with Lijit applications, effectively and smoothly. His hope is that no one would perceive the existence of databases under Lijit applications and therefore he would never be named for whatever reasons.
Charlie Wanek, Software Architect Charlie may have started in the working world by selling video arcade tokens, but now he holds the future of Lijit's search technology in his (fortunately for us, quite capable) hands. He's got 18 + years of software experience and spends his days at Lijit in front of his computer doing...um...super-secret stuff you'll find out about later.

Doug Farmer, Sr. Software Engineer / Team Lead Doug’s first software project was writing his own Lunar Lander for the Apple II. Turning this early nerdism into a career, he has spent 18+ years working on projects spanning Air Traffic Control systems to Telecommunications to Web Conferencing. When he isn’t being a ninja coder for Lijit, Doug spends his free time studying Taekwondo with his daughters and working on his gamerscore.

Jeff Kriese, Sr. Software Engineer After starting with a highly-classified job involving supercomputers and massively parallel machines, Jeff moved out to Colorado and transitioned to the telecom world. He followed
this with many years of web conferencing development and has now transitioned into a web search development role. He has made his way through 20 years of software work without coffee, but is fueled by Mountain Dew. Jeff spent his entire childhood in the New York City suburbs yet somehow managed to avoid a New York accent.

Zach Conger, Systems Architect Zach is a hard-driving cattleman, with muscles of twisted steel and a cold glare that will send the most fearsome coyote running for the hills. Out on that high lonesome prairie he calls home, the only thing that can dampen a man's spirit is the rain on his boots. Zach brings efficient thinking to Lijit, where he develops integral and highly performant network and systems solutions.

Daniel Weiss, Product Manager Daniel uses his mad software hacking skillz to integrate Lijit with exciting new business partners and technologies, run new features through the ringer before they're released, and quickly dispatch even the most mind-boggling of user support issues. Though Daniel comes to us from the realm of teleconferencing (specifically in IT and Operations Management), he spent most of his formative years working in health food and organic grocery stores, so we're pretty sure he'll outlive us all.

Ben Matson, Publisher Support Engineer Ben is one of the newest members of the Lijit team, having just moved to Boulder and started work in February of ‘09. He spends his days fielding support requests, writing help documents, and asking Daniel how things work. Despite a fair amount of competition from the other Lijit employees, Ben has enough Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, World of Warcraft raids, and Magic: The Gathering tournaments under his belt to safely declare his nerd cred unsteppable.

Shawn Tanaka, Quality Assurance Lead Covering up her lovely hula hands with ice hockey gloves, Shawn entered the IT scene 10 years ago when she moved to Colorado from Hawaii. Her laid back island ways and true grit spirit provide a good backdrop for performing tests on every release and maintaining the long-term quality of our multifaceted product. Shawn thought she was free from those huge flying cockroaches when she left Hawaii, but now is the keeper of all bugs at Lijit. In her spare time she enjoys cooking and planning the next social activity. When it comes to sports, she’s a big University of Hawaii fan and a softball 3rd baseman and ice hockey defenseman.

Aditya Kaundinya, Quality Assurance Engineer Aditya is one of the newest employees of Lijit, having joined full-time in January after interning for 6 months. He is usually found working with Shawn on performing tests for the next release and making our product as bug-free as possible. When not working, he can be found on one of the cricket fields in Colorado in the summer or on a squash court in the winter.

Tara Anderson, Marketing Manager Tara's been a public school teacher, restaurant manager, stand-up comedienne, massage therapist, and is now in charge of evangelizing Lijit, which she does with aplomb. Tara spends her days reaching out to new and potential Lijit users, as well as generally finding ways to grow the Lijit community and get our message out there. She's comfortable striking up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime (unlike the rest of the folks here), but is still nerdy enough to represent.

Jacqueline Malan, Community Catalyst Jacqueline comes to us from Washington, DC where she was heavily involved in the non-profit sector. We like to call her JJ and although she does drive slow (just ask our CEO Todd), she can out run most of us. At Lijit, Jacqueline keeps our publishers happy working with potential and current Lijit users on the reactive end of customer support. She's also been known to steal food off the plates of her dining companions.

Grace Boyle, Business Development Grace's background in traditional PR and Marketing blended with persistent proficiency in the online space has resulted in the ultimate social media cosmo. Armed with a progressive attitude, ninja networking skills and being something of a geekette, Grace has dug herself a niche in the Business Development sector for Lijit. Grace brings a fresh and bold attitude and regardless of her small hands, her ideas are still big whether she’s snowboarding the mountains of Colorado or acquiring new online publishers for Lijit.

Erica Prather, Business Development Erica is a Kansas native, and because of this, is still obsessed with the Jayhawks and big crazy storms. She brings to the Lijit team a strong writing background, and with that a disdain of overused abbreviations such as “lol” and “waz.” When she’s not advocating Lijit, Erica can be found doing yoga, attending an awesome dance performance or accomplishing her “National Parks Goal” – traveling to the plethora of national parks in the wild wild West!

Colleen Clair, Executive Assistant Colleen takes good care of Todd, Walter, and the general office operations of Lijit. She started out a little over 10 years ago managing doctor's offices, which prepared her well for later supporting the head cases otherwise known as teleconferencing executives. (No offense, Todd.) If you call our main phone number or stop by our office for a visit, Colleen’s happy voice/face will be the one to greet you.
